A properly scanned photograph is essential as it provides the basis for fixing your image.
1. Scanner Settings.
Set your scanner to it's default factory setting. Make sure that you scanning software isn't making any type of automatic corrections or adjustments.
2. Resolution
Very small photos - less than 2.5x3.5" scan at 1200dpi. Small - 2.5x3.5 to 5x7" scan at 600dpi. and medium to large - over 5x7" scan at 300dpi.
Set output type to 'best colour photograph' if option available
4. Your Photo
Check for fingerprints, smudges or dust. Using a lint-free cloth or soft brush, gentrly remove any surface dust and dirt.
3 Scanner glass.
Check the glass for fingerprints, smudges and dust. Clean the glass, if necessary, according to your manufacturers instructions
5. Placement & Preview Scan
Carefully place your photo on the glass - if the photo is bent or has creases and folds use a weight, such as a book, on the photo after placing it on the scanner to flatten it out.
Start the Preview scan. Your scanner will do a quick pass of the photo. Check that the image is placed upright, that none of it is cut off and that it is free of dust.
6. Final Scan
Scan the photo in colour, even if the original is black and white or sepia. Save your image as a jpg file.
7. Upload your File. CLICK HERE to upload your digital image to our server.
8. Submit Order Form.CLICK HERE to access and complete the online order form.
When we're happy that your image can be restored/repaired/colourised, we'll send you a PayPal invoice for £49.00.
